30th May 2010 (Sunday)

Gosh, one does find some shocking typos on here, doesn’t one. Just reread the last post and found my hair standing on end for a second there… I blame the posting time of day myself, well after (ahem) a few glasses of wine what does one expect. Yes, alcohol, not congenital stupidity. Definitely.

We’ve utterly stayed in this weekend, we’ve been in need to pampering, and it’s been wet and windy. Why bother? There’s another whole 11 months to make use of outdoors, we’ll just stay in for this one. Two excursion only: Saturday, we attempted to view another house on Scenic Drive but for the astonishing third time running it was sold before we could even get there. What they do is, if they get an offer on the house after the open house time is put in the paper, they sit an agent outside the house in a car, and they pounce on you as you approach, like some funnel-web spider, and offer you apologies, smiles, a card, and suck you contact details out of you I the process. Then you’re sent packing. Scenic Drive is a very popular place, god knows why. Loud as hell. Second excursion was to buy groceries. I took the Littles on my own this time as she’d been so awful last time that the ‘No daddy’ ban has come into force to try and push home the folly of being bad when Daddy’s around. Well if partially worked… OK when she was able to help with packing vegetables into bags and so on, but broke down a little when I was looking for items on high shelves or waiting to be served.. there was still some climbing on the deli counter and attempted climbing up the sheer walls of the freezers in evidence so I’m afraid it’s still going to be just the two of us next week as well. Shopping may not be the most interesting thing in the world I’d agree but scaling Perspex walls to get into the meat counter is still simply not acceptable.

For the rest of the time, we Woozled. Seemed to be remarkably easy, especially with the aid of a television. We watched ‘Jurassic Park’ and although the Littles found the bits without the dinosaurs pretty bring, she did love the dinos themselves, especially when they were in full action. One did rather get the impression she was quite firmly in the reptilian camp as far as sympathies went… cheering on the veloceraptors to try and get at the kids, but hey fair dos when the lovely T Rex got them instead, and Wow it’s Trickles the triceratops just THERE! (jump jump jump)… I think the who concept of ‘extinct’ might have just become a it more confused than necessary for her but hey, she enjoyed it. Then there was a bit of ‘A Shot in the Dark’ (much enjoyed the nudist camp scenes, kept on going on about what the Bellybuttons were doing), and no dout more similar nonsense which I’ve already filtered out. Not sure what else we did – not much for sure. Gosh we had a good evening meal today… we’ve definitely found ou how to cook corned beef, that I can tell you! (You may not remember but this is the corned beef not in the British sense but the American salt beef type way – we cooked it once before and were most surprised by the outcome). Well you’ll just have to read the other blog if you want to find out more.. and I’ll have to write the recipe, I guess. We were just sitting there staring at each other and going ‘wow! …. Damn! …. Bloody hell but this is fine!’ I suppose the effect might be amplified as one doesn’t exactly expect much from corned beef, so it may be more easy to be astonished even by mild palatability, let alone positive tastiness.

Ah, boring myself now. Hope you’re all well, lots of love, V xxx
