Ship ahoy!
How’s everyone doing? Trust well. Can’t believe it’s the weekend again. Why doesn’t the week keep its lid on for a little longer? Too fast, too fast. The daily drip-drip of little chores and rounds does for my day, and for the rest, it seems they had a good enough one.
Littles was invited by Lillian to come home to their place (very nice of Lillian – and her mum) – but she responded by breaking down in tears and saying no no, don’t want to go to other people’s houses. Hm. Obviously this is not the case because I know she likes playing, so as usual there’s some other unnamed THING here but we don’t get to the bottom of it. Anyway after briefly dropping back home and shutting up the windows and actually locking the door before I go out this time (I’d left everything wide open- the garage, the front door, the lot – it’s so close to the school might as well be pegging the washing out) we got to Lillan’s. She had a very nice time playing with the toys and drawing and dancing (much as they do over here) and finally we went off home – and I finally discovered what the matter was. She wanted to play with Lillian over the weekend as well – and reckoned that if she played now it would eradicate her chances. Well. Lillian was busy over the weekend but I suggested instead we could just make Thursdays Lillian day, so we weren’t wanting to play every evening…. And Lillian thought that was a good idea but the Non interjected strenuously NO, EVERY DAY. Hm. I suggested that perhaps we start off small and then think about it – which didn’t seem to go down too badly but she immediately asked ‘what do we do the other days?’ Heigh ho, we’ll have to swap round the class on child-kidnapping for weekdays.
So much for evening entertainment. Oh gosh, started reading ‘the Secret Scripture’ last night – dear me, tumbled through about a quarter of it and couldn’t get to sleep with the horror. Werewolves, ghosties and grisly murders are fine but that stuff is grim. Of course I’ll have to finish it now so post traumatic stress disorder is definitely in my sights.
That’s probably about as much entertainment as I’m worth tonight, sorry. Hope you’re keeping very well out there, Lots of love to y’all, V xxx

Great to hear that the Non now feels so strongly about going to play with Lillian, as when in the UK I never detected any great enthusiasm for playing with other kids compared with going to Tring etc, but maybe my view is based on partial information at best. So a great development I feel, but one which brings in its train the problems you have illustrated here "NO EVERY DAY".
ReplyDeleteNo trips to exotic restaurants this week, but to a concert on Monday evening of Mozart and Schubert, organised by the Pavan family in the flat below in the Treviso museum, not quite as good as the one the Friday before for me.
Much warmer here now,
Hope to speak to you over the weekend,
Love to you all,
