Unlike here. We might finally be emerging from what seems like the 100 Years’ Urine Wars – actually it’s probably more like about six weeks but let’s say the timespan seems … generous. Fingers, toes, and any other extremities crossed and re-crossed but things may have finally taken a turn for the better. Really have no idea what might have helped: the endless talks, the cessation of play dates, the removal of every single toy from the house, the threat of not going to a birthday party, the help of her friends in going with her to the toilet, the re-introduction of night-nappies, the talk with the teacher, the writing of when she has to go to the toilet on the back of her hand, or any other measures I tried and have already long forgotten. Strongly suspect that nothing really made a difference and she’s finally getting bored of wetting herself. It’s anyone’s guess. Will be rather nice to get back to full normality, whenever that comes round.
Meanwhile, it’s 4:48 a.m. here and my hob is very clean and the chicken and roasted pepper for today’s batch of sandwiches are cooling quietly on the counter-top. Hm, mad early dash to Sydney? No, not really. Both the Mr and I seem to be turning into something of an insomniac couple – it doesn’t do one’s concentration one bit of good. I suspect contributing factors are too much wine, not enough exercise, and encroaching age but there we are. Guess we could do something about the first two. Does cleaning the hob count as exercise?
On the other hand, it might be convenient on occasion. I’ve just discovered a good competition site that runs a sort of pub-gathering writing-spree once a week; only you can join in online, too. You put £3 in the kitty, winner takes £40. You tune in (or turn up) at 5:30 p.m. GMT, they give you three topics to write on, you chose one and then have 20 minutes to turn a short story in. I read some of the latest stories and they’re really good, very impressed. However, 5:30 p.m. GMT is 3:30 a.m. here, which might present a bit of a problem. Although as mentioned, today I would have been up and ready – though what the quality of writing would be at that hour is dubitable.
Talking of which, I’d better stop. Love to you all xxx
Some pics here without an entry day - on the 1st August we went up to Mount Sugarloaf - for the view, you know, the view. It was a nice view but only to be had right from the top where the car park is, but also had a nice walk in the bush below. Started off with sandwiches, of course.... always ravenous.
HUGE yucca flowers, they must be 12 foot high at least if not more
nice woody walk
regard the VIEW... then we drove down to the lake as well
played ball, and generally Chilled.
