Yesterday we didn’t do much all day but in the evening there was a kiddie birthday party (Sophie and Millie’s joint) at the gym, which Lara HUGELY enjoyed. In fact, all the kiddies loved it. In fact, even the adults joined in on the side and played at swinging on ropes and bouncing on the trampolines. I found I had a hidden talent for somersaulting into a foam-pit… shame it wasn’t anything useful, like driving well or remembering birthdays. Still, it’s a laugh. Got home at nearly seven and put the Non pretty much straight to bed, and lazed in front of the telly for the rest of the evening. The kind of day we like.
Gym party! Bounce! Swing!
Grin!
Chaos, food...
Birthday cakes and drunkenness
Sophie carts her loot home, and Lillian Likes Lollies!
On Saturday we went for a cobweb-blow to the park by the beach, and then down the the beach itself to collect some sand in our shoes and hair (we were getting low in the winter season).
Meanwhile, there have been plenty of playdates as usual going on. Ruby and Lillian on Thursday, and Indiah on Friday. The Thursday slots looks like it’s going to become a regular fixture – it’s a bit heavy-going on the supervision front but I’ll stick it out for a while as it might help meet some of the current issues head-on. There’s improvement all the time, so it’s well worth it.
Also in the meantime we’ve been to see a gym class – hugely appreciated and I think we’ll definitely sign up. We’ll be going on Friday afternoons, as will Lillian. Just the ticket for Lara: a nice bit of bouncing around, following instructions, sticking with the group, taking her turn.
Meanwhile, as we had major issues during the first week with not going to the loo at school (well more precisely with the consequences thereof) I’ve been going in to school for the last couple of days during break and lunch to make sure that Lara goes to the loo. It may seem drastic but I’m starting to run out of options – I can talk and agree things until I’m blue in the face and it doesn’t seem to make a blind bit of difference. Today I went in at break (11:30) and she claimed she’d been to the toilet already. I have my doubts but I decided to let it go – and I won’t go again at lunchtime. Proof in the pudding. We’ll see what happens this afternoon when she gets home.
Ah well, so much for the ins and outs of the daily grind… just thought I’d drop and note down to let you all know we’re alive. Hope preparations are going well for the Mexico trip (fingers crossed!) back in LA – and I wonder when the W&W are due back in Italy? Hope you had a nice time at Dicky’s, and that the trip to Welham wasn’t too strenuous on Saturday (though going up in the loft is always strenuous so it’s all comparative I guess…. Many thanks again).
Love to all xxxx
