We have another Camry in the garage! Hurrah. I have wheels! Didn’t manage to get the ‘pink slip’ or register it today (we quite ran out of time) but hopefully I’ll get that done tomorrow. While the Non’s at school – I can do it all on my own now! What a thrill.
The entire morning was spent waiting at doctor’s offices and doing bureaucratic rigmaroles for the medicals on our new visa – took a long, long time but we got there in the end. Oh, must remember to say, the birth certificate for the Flea came through today, safe and sound -many thanks. Perfectly on cue. Anyway, it’s all a bit of a labour of love but it’ll get there eventually – we really need this visa for all sorts of things. The Non was most amused by the doctor who interviewed us (performed some rudimentary tests that seemed geared towards ascertaining we weren’t members of the living dead – i.e. have a pulse, are breathing, and can squat, bend, and turn our heads, and have no obvious puncture wounds in our limbs). The said doctor was most taken by the Non (or professed to be) and paid her huge amounts of attention, and it turned out that the doctor’s son is in Merewether Heights as well (some other class) – she made no delay in trying to fix up an impromptu arranged marriage on the spot. The doctor has no girls, and has ‘skirt envy’ – the unfulfilled need to ‘pretty-up’ small things. We went in there at 9 prompt, and didn’t back out until 12:30. In the meantime the Littles got to listen to my heartbeat and lung capacity through an honest-to-goodness stethoscope, and watched Daddy have his chest-x-ray done (yes, behind the screen of course) and I gather made quite a nuisance of herself by expecting to have one done as well.
After that we came home, had a quite bite to eat and got the littles to school – then sorted out the remainder bits of the insurance for the car, went to pick it up – and that’s about it.
In the evening we had Sophie and Lillian come over, and they dance and drew pictures and stories and ate green-iced fairy cakes until they were taken away again. And I think that’s about it. Oh, the site that agreed to do the occasional book review I send in is mostlyfiction.com – my first offering is at http://bookreview.mostlyfiction.com/2010/the-road-by-cormac-mccarthy/ if any that might be interested… “The Road.” It’ll only ever be one or two a month.
Lots of love to all xxx

but you'll have to go to the end of the album for the latest pics!

Congratulations on the publishing of your book review. My, it is a very in–depth affair, I thought it was going to be just a couple of paragraphs like you find on the flyleaf of the book covers, it must have taken you quite a while to produce it. Please let me know when your next one comes up.
ReplyDeleteI am coming to the end of “The Brooklyn Follies” by Paul Auster, a book that I was going to recommend to you very warmly as it is excellent but it is tailing down a little now, still quite stimulating though, so try it if you have the time now that you are going to be gallivanting around in your Camry.
I can well believe that the doctor was taken with the Littles, she is very lovable, unfortunately her parents have snatched her away from us.
Off to watch Italy being beaten at football in the world cup, so bye and lots of love.

Hi hi hi!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS! Pics of satisfied Vens next to new companion; actually, ANY kind of picture- or are they all tucked away where I can't see them? Are they somewhere? I miss Non! SOO great that you got a car- you'll be all over the place now, LOVELY! I know I have more to comment about the rest of all your things, a bit was said over the phone but not as much as hoped- frankly, if anything did happen now, it's that one's busier than ever- maybe until the 2 weeks of camp- not that I am looking forward to it as much as I thought, Leo is being such a super kid to be with (OK it's only the 4th day still)- and has been doing work nicely followed by full days and lots of things to do- it's only Nea who has now been bitten by some bug on the eye and is going around looking like a combo of the hunchback of Notre dame and Conan the barbarian. Not a lot of luck these days, and plus bad tempered from lack of attention and sleep. Oh well. Still, L is really suddenly in the " I will soak everything up" stage (something other kids get at at 3-4 ) and is willing and keen in almost everything, of course naughty little bugger at times but still, good good. Put some pics of June up on Family, yesterday was EXCELLENT at the fencing club- his eyes were all sparkly and frankly my heart raced as I watched him- cool! Also it's good for practicing attentiveness and thinking about multiple tasks simultaneously, he was completely immersed in it. My lord I'd like to go!! Anyway, going to try it out for a while. In the meantime it's 8:00 am and one has to rush to his soccer-basketball stuff at 9am, after that we've got a jazz concert and a Mr Whelps amazing bubble show, so guess won't be around again. Still the after ones are free so it really seems worth making the effort, we'll see what Conan has to say about it. Oh, and there is the travel agency and bank, yikes...
Congrats to Ian! As always the smartest PF! and on the Visa! they are a damn nuisance but one feels so elated when one finally gets it done and rid of. Anyway, XOXOXOXOXOS, contact if I hear anything further from D.
