4th April 2010 (Sunday) Easter Sunday

(pics: Bunny presents of course.. but mainly copious quantities of stuff from Autie Pie...Easter Breakfast at the Redpath's, The way we like to keep the kids - in a pen, and looking down on them... Kids making easter baskets first,,, then lining up and the get-ready line before the easter egg hunt... running downstairs at the off...  finding easter eggs left right and centre... taking a break on the swings.... two easter bunnies plot their next naughtiness... At Blackbutt feeding the emus, very surly kangaroos and self-explanatories, and Kolala encounters with Angel and Jara the two koalas. Caption competitions for the last two: I'll start off with 'She likes it when you WHAT??' and 'Phew those gum leaves sure take a lot of digesting, my eyes are watering!')

Happy Easter to you all!

Very nice to talk to the W&W and Alessandra, and glad to hear the Mino's OK... and looking forward very much to hopefully hearing the Pie is back safe and sound.

Our day here opened with finding that the said Pie had pretty much sent half of the US's annual output of child clothes and chocolates to the Non... took the Non about an hour and a half to unpack the whole lot, I can't begin to imagine how long it took to put it together but anyway in extreme brief.... OMG you shouldn't have and every single thing is gorgeous, we've still got them all scattered all round the sitting room because even this late at night everything is still being admired. She wore the orange top and the spotty cycling shorts today, and as you'll see from the pics, they fit and suit absolutely perfectly. Astounding. Can't say thank you enough.

We couldn't linger too long in the morning because we had to be at Lucy's for an 8 a.m. Breakfast – the latter of which we weren't at all sure about but my goodness did we have a lovely time. There were quite a few kids there and they romped and frolicked and made easter baskets and found easter eggs and played and generally caused mayhem in an entirely satisfactory manner. Meanwhile the entirety of Julie's family turned out to be absolutley gorgeous (Julie is Lucy's mum) – they've got a slightly unusual setup where two sisters have married two brothers and everyone was there, and another one of Lucy and Lara's classmates and her mum. We didn't manage to leave until about 11 – and even at that I had to force them out fo the door because Lara was having such an extravagantly good time I was sure that things were going to turn hairy pretty soon out of sheer excitement.

Came back for a quick lunch (I know, we seem to have done nothing other than eat today) and set out for Blackbutt where we were for once in time for the Koala Encounters... that is, the Non got to stroke a couple of koalas as well as the usual looking at interesting animals. Oh, and today we got to feed the emus as well, who were incredibly gentle and polite, especially considering their size. Pics to come. Talking of which, I didn't explain on yesterday's ones.... the backs of the heads are an attempt to try to show how close we were to the wild echidna... however on that pic on the blog the echidna is almost invisible so you can entirely be excused for not getting it.... sorry.

Must apologise for the dullness of these missives these days... we've just been having too good a time to concentrate very hard later on, I'm afraid... well that's my excuse. An amusing story instead from today, completely random, courtesy of the Non:

'I had a lot of trouble today with my students, and I didn't get to read the invitation' ('What invitation?') 'My invitation, my student Moola didn't give it to me and that wasn't fair – but he put it on the shelf instead and tomorrow if I'm lucky I'll get the invitation. It was an accident that he put it on the shelf so that's OK.' (Where was it an invitation to?') 'To Moola's house. We are all going to Moola's house tomorrow, and we'll have a lovely time, and maybe, a picnic!' ('Will your friend Chinchilla be there, too?') “Possibly, possibly. We don't know.' (Will Chinchilla have any jellies this time?') 'Possibly, possibly. Moola is having a party'. …. and so on. When we said, there have been a lot of social events this term, we weren't joking. I think it's making a bit of an impression on the small brain. Why Moola we have no idea, and on what basis they should consider themselves lucky enough to be the Non's student we also don't know (as to the foolish notion of accidentally putting the invitation on the shelf and not delivering it properly like any decent student would do, the less said the better).

Well, so much for that. Lots of love to all and hope everyone is having a great Easter Sunday,

Us xxxxx
