4th - 5th March 2010 (Thursday - Friday)

Phew, better today with the dropping off. Sat down, was quiet, went off happily enough later when they filed back to the classroom - even though she saw me and waved while I was sitting there. Thank goodness. Perhaps getting the hang of things a little bit. Played quite happily beforehand too, and I asked her about the loos as we passed them and she took herself off to one, so obviously she does know where they are and has been - a few difficulties getting them to flush and getting soap but in all minor. Slightly encouraging.

Yesterday she was happy when picked up but the Sports day had obviously taken its toll as she was pretty tired and really quite smelly, was glad to get her into the bath and give her a good scrub. Still, obviously plenty of sports stuff had been going on so not bad. She still did her work and so on too - quite a feat, really. Unfortunately what with one thing and another things got very late and it was pretty much 9 o'clock before she got to bed - really must avoid doing that, especially when she's had such a tiring day. Still, she seemed pretty full of beans again this morning, bounced on our huge blow-up bed copiously (it really is more like a bouncy castle than anything else) and read through another whole book - pretty dense one, too. Then skipped off to school. I've got my ten-minute slot with the teacher this afternoon, see what he's got to say about things. Tomorrow we'll have to go out and find birthday presents for kids (for the two parties she has to attend) and see about either buying or hiring a mermaid costume for the second one... I think she's got it made for the mermaid one actually, all we've got to do is let her hair down and give her a skimpy top, she'll be there. It really is shockingly long these days, quite unfeasible. We should also get to see some more houses in Merewether Heights, so watch this space. I haven't got the sketches from the estate agent yet but still mulling things over in the meantime.

I'm quite enjoying my other blog, actually. Just a nicer way to keep the recipes together than eternally filing away bits of paper. I wonder if anyone else (hint hint, Pie) would like to put some of their favourite things on, too? I'm sure it could be arranged, lots of blogs seem to have more than one contributor. We'd love to learn some Italian things as well, I noticed that they sell osso bucco cuts here (unlike in the UK), the Flea would be delighted, I'm sure.
