(Pics: from top: "Boondi" - House Number 1 first - the Mr enjoying his P. G. Wodehouse of an evening, the Littles playing Purble Place on the computer and the Mr cooking. Then first dinner at House Number 2 - our pizza and salad, the Mr putting together the Littles's desk , and the view from our bedroom at House Number 2).
What a day, what a weekend. Still, we're installed, the Littles is asleep on her new mattress, House Number 1 is spotless and totally ready to hand over, we've got a new barbecue, the Mr is putting together the Non's new desk, the table we're now using as a kitchen table is lovely, and we just luuuurve our fridge - nothing special, very much on the cheap end of the market but somehow we really like it, it's sympatico. Got little knacks like having two veggie drawers, which is a great boon - didn't even realise that when we bought it. Mostly things are stashed away though the living room is still awash with Ikea bags filled with miscellaneous stuff, but mainly, we're done. Our new blow-up mattress is amazing - you just plug it in and it magically inflates - now I know this is the norm these days but we're still used to pumping laboriously with a hand pump, it's nothing short of miraculous. If only it didn't smell quite so violently of new rubber it would be even better- or perhaps we should have bought a slightly less thick version (this one's a least a foot high just on air, if not more) - feel ever-so-slightly seasick on it if there's too much rolling about.
The poor Mr had a rough day of it today, we packed up most of the stuff in the morning and shipped a carload to House Number 2 by 9:30, then the Mr left the Littles and I to unpack and get settled while he headed off into the wilds of the shopping centres to get the remaining stuff. So first stopped off at K mart for some cheap fold-away chairs and a few bits and pieces we had forgotten about (like pepper grinders), then on to Bunnings to get the barbecue and the dining room table and get the free trailer hire from them - so that he could get the new Non mattress home as well at the same time. First obstacle (apart from not being able to locate the table or two thirds of the barbecue in the cavernous store and being all on his own and not having any help with heavy items), was that the trailer was a no-go until he got a 'Tow Ball' - so off he hared to local Supercheap Auto Parts for the said Tow Ball. Back to the trailer place, got stuff loaded and then found that the trailer was by now so full of barbecue and table that there was no room for the mattress. So he came all the was back here, offloaded the goods, took us two back to House Number 1 (the Non was starving by this time and we had no comestibles at all in the house), went back to the store, picked up the mattress, dumped it all on his own at House Number 2, then went BACK to the store once again to leave the trailer, and came to finally have lunch at House Number 1 with us. Meanwhile I'd fed the Non and tidied most of the upstairs. After lunch the Mr took the Littles BACK to House Number 2 together with another car load of sofa, beanbag, fridge contents and bits and pieces, and I stayed behind for a couple of hours to clean and tidy while they unpacked some more at Number 2. At 3:30 they came back, and then we had to go grocery shopping (nothing left to eat), so off we go again. Then (as the thoughtful Mr had brought Beach Stuff along), the other two went off for a well-deserved Beach Break while I finished off the reminder of the cleaning - the barbecue, mopping up, hosing down the yard, stuff like that. Had just finished and was hopefully changed into cozzie and heading down towards beach when they two of them came back - so straight back inside. Both looking much refreshed, though. Quick change back, then load the shopping and the miscellaneous into the car and final farewell to House Number 1.
We'd bought a pizza and salad for tonight's dinner - gosh they're convenient, aren't they. Washed our new crockery and cutlery, laid it out on the new table, and Bob's your proverbial. We all had baths and showers (there's so much bathroom space in this place it's incredible - quite the most spacious aspect of the whole thing, they must expect us to be very dirty and very incontinent - there are no fewer than 3 loos.....) and were feeling much better. Personally I can definitely say I'm feeling MUCH better after dinner and quite a few glasses of wine.
What a tedious drone. Oh well I guess it reflects the day we've had quite accurately... However, all things considered, I think it's gone pretty well and we've done just fine. Tomorrow morning the Non and I will go down to the school again (it's only two minutes' walk after all - Haaaa ha ha Ah the joy...) and let them have a copy of the tenancy agreement (to show we're in catchment) and some more medical reports, then we've really got the rest of the day to get further settled and do our work again after the upheaval of today. All set.
Anyway, I'll see if I can upload a few pics (will I be able to find the connection cable? Not sure...), Lots of love, V xxxx

Dear me, poor Poppet, and POOR PFLEA. Hope you both get a bit of a rest now and that there is going to be a few spare moments for "grant applying". I suppose you were expecting it was going to be a very busy and tireing time but it always turns out to be worse than you thought ( here speaks the optimist). We appreciate very much your keeping us up to date with all that is happening and that you also find the time to insert some pictures. It might only be an impression from the photos but it looks as if the Non's legs have stretched at least 10 cm. and is as pretty as ever. I LOVED House No.4, have you been to view it? I asked Alan if he wanted to invest in real estate, but no, he prefers oil. Still, I am sure that when your first book appears or the Non becomes a superstar you can have an even greater mansion.
