A day slightly ungeared for wimps.
Went out in the late morning under somewhat cloudy skies, striking out for Nobby’s Point. The idea was that if it rained we’d got that out of the way at least.
Luckily it didn’t rain, and a jolly good walk was had up the pier all the way to the end. There was some talk of turning back but I wouldn’t hear of it until they’d ‘touched the point’ and could thoroughly tick the ‘been there, done that’ box. At the very moment the Whale reached out to touch the rocks at the end of the jetty, a HUGE wave came splatting all the way up the sides of the pier and cascaded in a great shower on the both of them… Oh dear. Really shouldn’t laugh but it was quite a picture, wish I’d had the camera. Anyway, it all dried off pretty quickly.
After that there was a walk up and down Hunter Street Mall (not that there’s much to see but if you’re asking for downtown Newcastle that’s probably about it.) Crossing the little footbridge and going up Queen’s Whaft Tower mas a bit of a step too far for the Woofie, who stayed at the bottom while the Whale and I went up to the top – it was further up that I’d anticipated, have to say. However, good views to be had. Bak down then and off home for a very late lunch, and the smallest of breaks before the Non was brought back home, together with a Thursday Lillian.
And so there were stickies, and fruit, they danced, they played with mooses, drew some pictures, made a mess cutting things up, spread glue around, played leapfrog on the stairs, did some yelling (and some screaming), climbed up and down the bunk bed a few times, raised hell, and then we all walked Lillian home.
By this time it was a little late, and I had boned a chicken and had meat to stuff and barbecue it but it was so late we decided to spatchcock it instead on the barbecue, and do stuffing balls in a separate dish. All turned out rather nicely, actually. Really ought to post it on the food blog, I guess.
There we are. It’s all a bit slapdash but I guess maybe better than nothing. Snogs all round.

but you'll have to go to the end of the album for the latest pics!

HAAA! Thank the lord you've resurfaced- except for the special Lara tooth on the last one I'll leave the 3 letter comment here (that's funny, I've been checking every day and they all three came up just today) - Hurrah! Thought that you might have been shot by a milky bar ( no kidding I LOVE that one, where on earth did it come from, is it a Aussie thing? or a Vesna thing? I will have to get it into a conversation somewhere- guffaw) and OF COURSE- the WWs are here.I thought they were later! HI WWs, wish I had got your sausage! ( That was a comedy happening, I could JUST imagine W's face and pissed myself) give them lots of snogs!
ReplyDeleteGOod that I didn't call you on monday then, I was starting to wonder and Makoto was away at Flagstaff and Tucson for 4 days and adult conversation was at an all time low. Non must be having oodles of fun time! Lord since Mexico we haven't gone somewhere really exciting, fallen into some sort of rut I guess. Really have to, at last it's getting a bit warmer after a FREEZING start to September, brr.
Same old same old over here. Nothing much, every day predictable. Morning with Nea, nicknacks, mornings, lunches, dinner, homework, wash, read, play some, bed. That would be pretty much it, these days there has been a LOT of homework so things start to go a tad downhill, the problem is that Nea can stand it for so- so half an hour (very good about it actually) but of course wants to play, I have to stay there and make sure he7s doing things right (especially English his weak point) while she screams away. It's interesting how she wants to do colouring and painting and writing at the table before or after Leo's homework but never during it. Hmm. I wonder why. ( ha ha )
2 weeks ago when we were at a Greek festival ( quite nice actually) Mako suddenly came up with a very guilty sag-eyebrow guilty face that aaa, Nea chan really wanted this goldfish so... brought home a damn fish again. I had told everyone I definitely wasn't going to get into all that tripe again, blow a twix bar up my ass and call me Rosie (sorry, that wasn't) if I ever hadn't firmly warned everyone. Anyway, I waited for 3 days for the mite to die, nothing, Mako and Leo went in secret to get it a bubbly thing on last friday and it was roaring on the table, I thought of perhaps putting some brandy or in the water (would have been detected) then
on Sunday, two of them go out and come back with a stupid tank. I could have hung them from the ceiling. 45 bucks- PLease!!! Grrr. Anyway, sigh, give up, help with instructions and setup, get everything going, warn AGAIN that fish like this die off anyway... lo and behold,
on tuesday found by Leo peacefully staring out at nothing at the bottom of the cage with blood pouring out of it's eyes. Cut this story short, since then Nea has been obsessed with dying and is being terribly morose, all the time playing with her animals going " Oh no you're dead, you're gone!" - that's fine, it's just that one gets some very disturbed faces when we go to the park and she does it with children too.
I think Nea has had enough, she had the gymnastic- class yesterday so had oodles of fun, today is a slow park day and she's been waiting for me for more than half an hour by now. Off I go, and thank you SO much for writing! I've had precious little contact with anyone alive or dead recently (excluding hubby and kids) and felt almost as if I had been suddenly hurled into the middle of the Pacific.
Anyway crappy letter sorry lots of love to all round and wish I could be there with you guys (don't worry in a different house!) in the evenings talking and laughing. XOXOXOXOXOS!!!!
Oh and by the way comedy; Nea was just on the toilet, notified me that she had pooed, was jumping up and down and said "Wook mummy Wook,
ReplyDeletecome here- (I come) Wook! Many FALLL (small) Kakas, like the planets and Milky Way! )
aah, the pleasure of kids.
