30th June 2010 (Wednesday)

Missed out yesterday again… what the hell did we do. Oh yes, Ruby came to play with the Non – this is the joined-at-the-hip girl with her at school at the moment… they had a good time. I set out their fruit first and put out the fripperies like biscuits and cake on a plate for when they’ve finished the fruit… That day I put out tiny cupcakes, biscuits, and marshmallows and I think it really hit the spot because I’ve never seen fruit disappear so quickly. I also think they’re starving at the moment because they’re doing a ‘thing’ where they just eat their snacks and treats and ignore their sandwiches. I just discovered this today – at least it’s not just the Non being contrary. Hopefully it’ll be a short-lived phase. Anyway, they seemed to have a very nice time playing yesterday afternoon.

Today we had the parent-teacher interviews… well honestly we would never have dreamed of a report like that six months ago, I can tell you. Not only was the academic stuff just soaring (unbelievably advanced in reading, she came back with a principal’s award yesterday for ‘her wonderful sentence writing’ which she got in front of the whole school, maths fine too, all high marks, etc etc) but he wasn’t at all bothered about any socialisation issues, apparently she doesn’t stand out at all, is fitting in really well, and of course most importantly enjoying herself hugely. Can you imagine that at the time she was at Bierton? I don’t think so… Anyway, so that was all good news. Then this evening was the Disco evening. Goodness she was eager for it. Her whole ‘thing’ of not eating lunch played into my hands a little this evening actually because at four o’clock she was absolutely starving, so when I made up some burgers and a mass of veg for her she wolfed them down in a matter of minutes and was all in time to get a hair-wash and scrub before being brushed out and togged out to go for the 5:30 Kindy disco. My she was eager. Rushed in, danced, rushed out again, drank a bit of juice, rushed in again, dance, rushed out and ate some crisps, bounced up and down a bit with her mates, rushed back in…. you get the picture. Had an extremely good time and though she was reluctant to give up Daddy-play time as well I think she was actually quite happy to crawl into bed. I’ve had to put extra covers on it because it’s FREEZING… this house has no heating to speak of and the heaters we’ve got don’t do a thing. It was 2 degrees today sometime in the early hours…. Horror. Having to drink extra quantities of alcohol to keep the heat levels up…. Well that’s my excuse anyway.

That’s probably about all my gossip. Oh, I just got through at lively card from the W&W, another lovely one from Becky and no less than a bogey board from the Camel today so many many thanks all round, very nice of everyone… I’m sure I didn’t do anything to deserve it all but it’s very nice nevertheless. Lots of love all round, V xxxxx

  1. What a wonderful Non! Such a clever Littles, very well done for a small girl, or should I say well done the Mummy? I am sure it is all down to the fantastic teaching methods of that Poppet. Anyway, we are very happy about the excellent results.

Had a very dear e-mail from the Pie this morning bringing us up to date with the latest news, hope to have better ones from you soon. Anything we can do?

Please congratulate and praise the Non on our behalf.
    Lots of love to all
    Woofie
