Not sure what I have to report on today – I fact I’m so painfully full of Pasta Fazol that I can hardly see straight, the strain of sitting up is almost overwhelming in itself. I swear that stuff gets bigger once ingested.
Mr gave one of his surrogate lectures today, and apparently it went well. Oh, and he’s got two students interested for short term placements in his lab (yes, apparently it’s possible even though the lab doesn’t exist) so it’s all good stuff.
The Littles has been relatively good – nothing strenuous to report there either – seems to have chirped up a little since the weekend but again that could simply be because I don’t see her for most of the day. In any case, it’s bliss. She’s happy, I’m happy. She does most of her extra-curricular work in the morning before she sets foot into school, and in there evening does typing, reading, and telly watching. Hunky-dory.
And I’ve spent most of the day finding ever-new writing competition and guidance on submitting things - basically if I’m not scrubbing a floor or a loo, I’ll be either reading how to write for certain markets, or reading how other people have done it (some quite good, some spectacularly bad), or submitting stuff (of course hammering it out beforehand but probably chucking it into the fire before it’s entirely ready, to be honest). I think there’ll be a lot of this to come.
Ah well. We’ve got QI today and although it’s probably a repeat that we’ve seen it’s always comforting. Heard a rendition of the News Quiz the other day – and when I opined that the standard had if anything gone up recently the Mr quite rightly pointed out that it was probably the dearth of any decent comical / satirical matter coming across our paths these day, and he’s probably right (as he so usually and annoyingly is). Ah well that’s about enough for today. Hope Alessadra is feeling better (sounds just awful – poor thing! I know first communion isn’t all that exciting but a reaction like that sounds extreme to say the least), Lots of love, V xxx
