Dear me, getting very lax about posting things. Sorry. I guess we’re in a routine now anyway, just as everyone else is and there’s not that much that’s overtly, star tellingly new happening on a day to day basis. Not that that ever stopped me before…
Ahem. What’s been going here Let’s think – yesterday Lillian invited herself over after school for a little play (and most lovely it was too, it’s very nice that the kids are bouncing up and down to come and play, very friendly) They’re all just gorgeous. After that it was pretty much just quickly do our work, cook dinner, do the evening rigmarole and rush off to bed. I was sticking my nose into my refreshing little Terry Pratchet book: ‘Nation’ – classified in the library as ‘young adult’ and very nice it was too – simply but well written, not condescending, loads of funny bits, and quite meaty enough to be a thoroughly enjoyable read for any age. …. Talking of which…. I read ‘The Famished Road’???? Have absolutely NO recollection – though if the Woofie says so I’m sure I must have done. In fact I was wondering if the book would pop up in the library some time, as it’s so high-profile and I’m thinking ‘I haven’t read that one, ought to some day…’. Must have been thrilling. Alas, I drink too much to retain information longer than a few seconds. The books the Woofie recommended sound great… I’ll try and keep a note of them with me when we go to the library but really it’s pretty poor down there, I’m not hugely hopeful of having any luck. Perhaps if we managed to get to the City library occasionally… it’s just that the Toy library is in New Lambton, you see,… and we’re drawn there like moths to the flame.
What about today…. Oh, well Wednesday so it was my school morning day, of course. It really is fun to be with those kids, I do look forward to it. I was on computers and typing today (at the Non’s request) – they were all doing very well and surprisingly happy to give the ‘typing with both hands’ notion a go (rather than one finger, while sitting on the other hand… seems to be de rigueur in absence of orders to the contrary). Non was being a bit ‘oh I’m not very good at this, please help’ but actually she wasn’t bad at all. After she’d got home and done her work, he colouring and had a bath I asked her would she like to bake some cupcakes or do some typing practice, guess which one she chose – yup, typing practice. That girl is NOT attracted to the kitchen in any way whatsoever, if it isn’t to pinch fresh-baked bread or carrot sticks. Anyway, she was mightily pleased with her touch-typing practice (some internet game thing for kids – they have so many of the them there days, it’s really great). She’ll be tapping away at the keys in no time at all, I’m sure.
Thought there might have been something else but can’t remember. Apologies for the very dull post. Lots of love to everyone, hope you’re all doing very well – oh gosh and I nearly forgot to say (how COULD I) CONGRATULATIONS on the school placement! (transfer? Papers? You know). FANTASTIC. I thought you wouldn’t hear until June, it’s well early. Great stuff! And I saw that video of Leo and his school chums doing their performance – absolutely SUPER! Can’t believe how confident and forthright they are, really nicely done. And all the pianica stuff, they didn’t put a finger wrong (barely), it’s really impressive. Thanks for the video! (well I know it was another mum but it’s enjoyed just as much as if you’d taken it – plus you didn’t have the hassle of uploading it onto the Net – can she do some more for us??) Excellent stuff all round, lots of love again, Nancy xxxxx
