Gosh, that was surprising. I downloaded a little widget today that showed who and where is watching the blogs, and as I glanced at it just now before posting, found that the W&W had just logged in 'in the last 16 seconds' and were looking for the latest post. Feels like being given an immediate jab in the ribs - 'it's late, what's the news?!' Serves me right for being nosey, eh.
Actually, not much news from here today. Very good news is that the Pie called and let us know that everything in the trip had gone pretty much to plan, and she's had (steel yourselves for a good wincing and shrinking) no less than 13 teeth 'done' within the few days she was there, including three nerve extractions and goodness knows how many caps, said it was about 5 hours at the dentist every day but well worth it. Sorted out her bank and other bits and pieces, generally did huge amount of work, kids were (for the first time in their lives) actually looked after by the APs and seemed to have a good time, nothing too traumatic happening, and I was just looking at the My family site and there are some GORGEOUS pics there, just lovely, makes me wish I could still paint to be able to put some of them onto canvass but there we go, the march of time is relentless and deterioration of skills inevitable with disuse of practice and abuse of alcohol. So I just sit back and admire. In short, they're back safe and sound, and Makoto's back from Japan, and Leo's back at school, so everything is in the groove it ought to be in which is fantastic.
Meanwhile, today was the first day that we were left at home without Daddy (back to work for him) and the Non was entirely ready to go back to school and was asking away as to how soon she could go back, that she wanted to go back RIGHT NOW, and once again when did school start? So we had to break it to her that there is still a week and a half of holidays left unfortunatley and she can't go back just yet. Anyway we had one of our 'quiet days' with lots of reading and lounging about and extended work, plenty of colouring in, and we ended up on one of the little art projects that we have in the 'art techniques' book - she quite enjoyed it I think, a sort of ripped-paper collage city-scape and hopefully she'll finish it tomorrow - we're much in need of honing all sorts of arts techniques. Colouring in a mixing and maching colours has been polished to a fine degree - now there's the rest of the art world to conquer. Onwards and upwards. Well in the middle of it Daddy came home so that was an end of that.
My goodness, she does love her after-dinner 'run in a semicircle' with mooses. Every night. Then after they're completley run into the ground and can't take another step they go upstairs and she has the mooses 'jump on her' from outside her bed onto the high bunk... the shrieks of delight and amusement are quite overwhelming, and tonight we we hearing giggles and chortles long after we'd turned off the light and gone downstairs.... although of course after about 5 minutes it suddenly went dead quiet as she no doubt slid suddenly into a well-deserved uncosciousness but it's not a bad way to fall asleep, I'd say.
Well, that's about all I can think of. Lots of love to all, Nancy xxx

but you'll have to go to the end of the album for the latest pics!

Yesterday was the first real spring day, lovely, warm and sunny so on our way back from the fish market we had to stop in the square and have our Campari spritz. There was the horse round-about that you know but no Non to ride on it, we always miss her. We went home feeling quite wizzy, fizzy, dizzy……
ReplyDeletePlease don’t get fed up with me, but let me reiterate that now is the good moment for you to get a car so that you can go places with the Littles while she is on holiday and in need of entertainment. The money has not yet arrived on my account but as soon as you say how much you need we can let you have it one way or another, the pound seems to be slightly up today so just the right time.
Glad to hear that our Pie is back, although I had quite a pang at the thought of 13 teeth being ‘done’. Those children seem to have had a really good time with the APs in such a beautiful place, even their food was enticing.
The last couple of nights we have been watching a tape of Billy Connolly World Tour of Australia, one of his stops included Newcastle and showed not only the very industrial part of it but also Billy standing on a deserted and very, very windy beach fishing and catching the most enormous salmon .
As always I am looking forward to the next instalment as well as Pie’s blog when she has settled a little. Lots of love
