Today we discovered a new mythical Australian creature, called a Bunyip. Aboriginal, you know. Extraordinary in that there seems to be absolutely NO consensus as to what it looks like, or what it is, apart than it’s usually associated with water or swamps. Here are some pictures of Bunyips:
... as you can see, not the slightest coherence in appearance. We learned this because the Littles’s book of the day was ‘Blossom Possum’, a version of Chicken Little with Blossom Possum, Rocky Cocky (a cockatoo), Joanna Goanna, Toey Joey, Abacus Platypus, Echo Gecko, By-Jingo Dingo. I-Seen-You-Emu, You-Beaut Bunyip and Didgeridoo Kangaroo. All the animals until By-Jingo Dingo (aka Foxy Loxy) go on in the same manner as chicken little until they’re stopped at the Dingo’s lair by the last three characters, and the Bunyip and the Kangaroo beat up the dingo and the little animals run free (there’s a charming picture of the mother dingo and three baby dingos with bibs tied round their chins and holding out knives and forks in front of the closed front door at this point. Their tongues are all protruding.)
Well, there we are. Amusing tale (tail) of the day. That’s about it because the said day was very dull. I spent it sorting out the study, everyone else spent it at work or at school doing un-remarkable things likewise, and we all came home and converged on an OK but unremarkable dinner. So there we are, mediocrities of the word unite, tonight. Anyway, the main clientele of this blog are off – the Woofie and Whaley to Rome (hope you’re having a fantastic time and hope to hear lots of nice stuff on the return) and the Pie busy in her preparations for the upcoming week of torture in the skies and terrestrially in Croatia. Lots of love to you all and hope you can remember the name of the bunyip more readily than I can (have to keep referring back to print to remember what the hell it was), Nancy xxx

Hey Bunyip land inhabitants! COOL, as Leo would say- have to show it to makoto, as ever impressed by new out of this world creatures, I always say; wow that's amazing but don't we have enough absolutely ridiculous creatures on this earth to interest you enough, (such as octopuses and crabs and spiders, not to mention ourselves-) hey I never mentioned that that post with the goblin, I saw it at a distance and took a short breath- I was just going to write OH MI GODS That was so scary, I just thought that there was a goblin like creature on Lara's bed- when it was. Absolutely MIST (ha ha ) level, totally unhinged me. Going to say I have almost no knowledge of Harry Potter I'm afraid, so it really put my hair in more directions than I am willing to write down. Tee hee. Two more days to departure and still not quite clear on what's going on as far as what and where I'm going, but for the moment the Father is going to come and pick me up at the airport which is a blessing, don't want to pay more money for taxis as far as I'm concerned. In the meantime one's got all the school finishing things plus entertaining, not to mention Nea is at the WORST possible moment ever; tantrums here, tantrums there, throwing about and NO to everything. Sigh. Then there is the added amount of work of signing up and petitioning for LAUSD (school stuff)and being allowed to go back to school in outer-district schooling systems, it seems pretty dire; and I SO don't feel like moving. I'll only know in July I guess, seems like a long time. Haven't even been to other preschools yet. It took me ages to at last send the small pathetic parcel to Lara, hope it gets there by Easter; by the way we LOVED the birds DVD! Thank you SO much again, they love all the docs, especially since now Leo teaches Nea the basics. I thought of making a pork stew today but gave up around 3 in the afternoon and said well.. beans and ramen and some chicken instead, what a washout.
ReplyDelete2 more days to go to RED ZONE, Mako and I were watching a Japanese comedy series we like to observe where they were talking about the 8 circles of hell whilst drinking and putting meat on the barbq every time it said "in this circle it gets even worse than the last time, their entrails are then eaten before them time and time again, then burned in this and that way"... very amusing, but too close to home if you know what I mean. Shudder.... Anyway lots to do, just to say thanks and lots of love for Easter, all around- and hope you have a nice break, and hope to see many lovely blogs around when I return on the 4th. Let us make a prayer. Barf. Love all around, XOXOXOXOXOXOXO S
