27th March 2010 (Saturday)

Well there we are. Saturday. I don’t know why on earth I’m so tired but come 9 pm I’m all ironed out and simply haven’t the energy for anything. It’s pretty dire, started taking multivits again in an attempt to stay awake but not much use it seems. The poor Mr hasn’t been well today, fine yesterday but this morning we found him downstairs in the sitting room green as a cucumber and looking as floppy as one that had been left out of the fridge on a very hot summer weekend on the counter and was just being discovered. So we pretty much left him alone and went around food shopping, getting stuff for party bags, going to the library, and then later on went back to K mart with the dud boxes we purchase last time round and exchanged them for something more expensive but at least it’ll last a little while... more than 2 hours at least, I hope. Finally at about 4:30 he was looking slightly bouncier so we persuaded him to come down to the beach with us, though he didn’t go in, but I think the outing did him a bit of good – was getting awfully hot and muggy indoors. The Non and I had great fun going down to the pump in the corner of the baths, and going ready-steady-GO and launching ourselves into the huge stream, and then trying to swim against it – the Non did pretty well actually, I think I ought to notify swimming instructors that swimming against a current seems to do wonders for getting sinking feet up and doing some proper swimming. It’s a jolly strong current – even the most robust of adult swimmers get a bit swept away by it if they’re too close, she did pretty well.


There was the Newcastle Show on today, and yesterday, and tomorrow – but with one thing and another (the party on one hand and the poor Mr feeling unwell on the other, and the Non being tired in between) we decided to give that one a miss this year, just not right timing.

I think that’s about it. The house is a bombsite because I haven’t as much as made the beds today, and stuff has just been piling up – Non and I have been out most of the day. Never mind, soon remedied. I think I ought to just think up some questions for the ‘Save the Australian Animals’ game tomorrow (they’ll have to get into two teams and answer questions in turn to ‘save’ an appropriate animal from a tub, but it’s always difficult to know where to pitch the questions so there’s a good chance of the answering it. Wouldn’t want to go as dumb as Who Wants to be a Millionaire of course but I guess they are only five, will have to be careful). Ah, tired. Goodness, talking of which, the Pie is probably in Croatia by now, I really hope she’ll be OK. Grisly prospect but needs must. Lots of love to all, Vxxxx
