Deary me. This one still not posted yet? Bugger, is it me that's meant to be doing it? .... OK.
Well, a day of two halves, as they say (well being precise probably more like a day of one third and two thirds but it just doesn't sound the same does it). We did a whole 'car share' thing between the working parties and the non-working parties. Ian took the car to work (I suppose technically the obverse mechanics are true but you know what I mean) and brought it back by 1:30 p.m.. In the meantime, we did our morning humdrums (Non work, general tidying, washing, ironing, a trip to the beach, a quick scrub up, lunch, that kind of stuff). The we swapped - we (the Non-workers) took the car and zoomed off to the library to see crocodiles (yes, that's not a typo), and Ian took the computer upstairs and pretty much didn't emerge for the rest of the day.
Well well. I'll see if I can post a video on this thing (it does say that one can), but the Non went and volunteered for the SCARIEST exhibit demonstration they had - the Saltie. Trust her. Well actually she was madly volunteering for everything else they had too but everyone else hung back once it came to the crocodile. If the video loads properly, you'll see what I mean when I say that I think the handler didn't quite bank on how fearless she was. Oh marvellous stuff, all the usual reptiles and so on, large Olive python (called Olive), all sorts, kids going berserk all over the place, and what looked like an adolescent in charge (did his work absolutely admirably, no complaints at all), delightful mayhem and thoroughly enjoyed. Then we mosied off to the supermarket in a marvellously careless manner to get something for dinner (food-spotter-extraordinaire spotted and demanded a large slab of beefsteak tonight, no objections there), lingered ages poking and prodding things to no great avail but infinite amusement (the toilet paper isle was delightful), and then back home. Where Ian was still deep in cogitation over the ancient laptop, so we bundled ourselves off to the beach. Can I just say, I LOVE watching cormorants fishing - they are just SO successful! Every fifth dive or so on average they seem to come up with something extraordinarily tasty looking and sit there on the water, glossy and oily-looking, guzzling up their dinners with a gusto that would give the most avid gourmet a run for his money. Fantastic creatures. Anyway, we didn't come home until close to 7 p.m., so by the time all washings were complete and dinners were eaten, the Non was fully exercised to put it mildly. Drooping over her spinach salad she declared herself to be "very, very, very, VERY tired" and definitely too tired to finish off the spinach but not too tired for biscuits, jelly (hard jelly snakes that is, not the usual), or for a reading of Harry Potter. Fair enough.
Well that's about it. Haven't heard much gossip from other people these past few days, the only information we've got is that the poor Woofie's teeth and back are not behaving very well (fingers crossed for fast recovery / brilliant bridge-making), so if someone's got some spare weekend time get a small finger out and send us some news. Lots of love,
Vx xxxxxx

Poppet, we can't see a video here, any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteThat Non seems to love all the most dangerous creatures down there - Saltie the crocodile indeed. Here it is very cold overnight, -3C, and even at 1pm, - I have just come in - it is only just above freezing. But there is no rain, or snow, only thick fog overnight.
Love to you all,
Whale
Alas, the video's been 'trying' to upload for the last two hours, but has finally given up the ghost. it's jsut not going to happen with this equipment. Shame, but there we are. You should have seen the crocodile snog. Anyway, I'm finally giving up and going to bed, lots of love to you all, V x
