15th January 2010

Well, I've decided to pull this embryonic blog out of the wretched 'my family' site as it appears to be entirely invisible to everyone but myself. What a waste of time. Much as I'm only angling to reach friends and family who want to know, the aspiration is that this will be ever-so-slightly more high profile than that. We'll see.

Very pleasant day today - nothing exciting but all very nice. Fishmarket first thing in the morning (today's experiment was mullet - they call it 'bully mullet' over here and you see why, it's about 10 times the size of anything you see over in the medeterranean). Came back, did a bit of Non work (she did quite well again today) then I sent the two of them off to the beach - managed to tidy up a tiny bit and prep lunch before they came back, freshly laden with sand and sun. Although, it certainly was a bit of an overcast morning and I did stay at home on the mutual understanding that I was entirely unlikely to get anywhere within 20 feet of anything vaguely damp due to lack of sufficient heat. Post-prendially we all went of the the local Westfield to collect driving shoes for me (fantastic find - have to give the credit to the Mr for spotting them, $6 for a perfectly good pair of canvasses - that sort of thing makes my miserly heart quite skip a beat), cover-up Aussie style swimsuit for the Non, and a re-stock from the supermarket. Surprising how long all this takes - it was gone 5pm by the time we got back down to the beach. The Ocean Baths were closed today for cleaning so we were on the normal beach, turns out the Daddymonster and Babymonster had been building a very admirable Seagull Trap on the beach and indeed during their absence the seagulls had wandered all over it, as was evidenced by their copious footprints - much to the delight of said Babymonster. And, let it be set down as a matter of record - Mummymonster was FULLY immersed in the Tasman sea. OK, so perhaps it was about 30 seconds. Still, fully. John the Baptist would have been satisfied. Quite dunked. Glad we've got thick beach towels though.

  1. Pink Non looks great, especially those long Piggie(phant) tails.
